Durban Poison THCv
A perfect daytime smoke
One of the classics from the 1970s, this pure African sativa has origins from the port city of Durban and was thought to be originally brought over by Ed Rosenthal. Expect clear and energizing effects from this landrace, which makes it perfect for a daytime smoke. Like many of the African cultivars, Durban was known to have THCv. We isolated plants with elevated levels of this a rare cannabinoid in order to have the a functional daytime experience. The aroma is unmistakable: sweet anise and licorice over pine. The effect is sharp, clean, and focused, without the drifting quality of longer-flowering sativas.
Heritage Notes
Southern Africa has one of the oldest continuous cannabis traditions on earth, where the plant has been known as dagga for centuries and grown in household plots as much as in fields. Durban’s coastal landrace proved unusually adaptable, finishing early enough to travel — a trait that made it foundational to breeders worldwide from the 1970s onward. Few landraces have given so much to modern cannabis while remaining so recognizably themselves.
