Mud Bight Delight

From the collection of James Schenk — Heime Cheeba — of Alaska Cannabis Cache, who had spent more than forty years growing, breeding, and preserving cannabis genetics, most of it stock from the 1970s, 80s, and 90s.  Along with his 1974 Matsunuka Thunder Fuck, Mud Bight Delight remains one of the most requested lines he had kept, and one of the most difficult to find.

The name comes from Ketchikan, where an enclave of float houses settled onto the cold, muddy seafloor when the tide went out — the Mud Bight. The line is indica-dominant and widely thought to descend from Afghani genetics that reached Alaska in the early-to-mid 1970s. Dense, resinous, and adapted to a hard climate.  We truly enjoyed this discovery and how uplifting and balanced it is.  It was no wonder that, for a collector whose exposure spans decades, James kept MBD as his daily go-to-smoke.  

Heritage Notes

Southeast Alaska’s growing history was shaped by isolation and improvisation, and the float-house community at Ketchikan’s Mud Bight is exactly that kind of place. The line is thought to descend from Afghani genetics carried north in the early 1970s and then adapted, generation by generation, to a climate nothing like their origin. It has been carried forward by a single preservationist across four decades — the way most heritage genetics survive at all.
