The landrace that built the reputation of Mexican cannabis
Considered one of the few retro classics, as much as it is recognized by name, it is also as difficult to find. From the mountains of Guerrero, it takes its name from the golden-amber cast of well-cured flowers, a color that came from heavy resin and careful drying. We were gifted the seeds years ago from a breeder friend who has been in the cannabis space for decades. He originally sourced the seeds from a gentleman who grew up in the state of Guerrero, in the Acapulco area. We believe this version has been selectively bred for improvement over the years while still retaining the classic Mexican red hairs.
Heritage Notes
The mountains of Guerrero produced what may be the most famous regional cannabis of the twentieth century. Mexican growers had been cultivating and selecting for generations before the name traveled north, and the golden cure that gave the variety its name reflected local knowledge of harvest timing and drying as much as genetics. Acapulco Gold set the standard by which imported cannabis was judged for two decades.
